Diplomacy Reference

The Diplomatic Pouch Founded and run by our very own Manus Hand, The Pouch is the official homepage of the Diplomacy hobby. In addition to publishing a quarterly 'Zine with scads of interesting articles, The Pouch is also a great source of variants, maps and all other things Diplomatic. In addition to the regional organizations listed below, The Pouch's Face-to-Face Section includes a more complete list of Diplomacy clubs worldwide.

North American Organizations

The North American Diplomacy Federation (NADF) The NADF is the glue that binds all the regional organizations in North America together. The NADF rates players and issues a number of annual awards, including the coveted Grand Prix, All-Star, and the WDC Divisional Championships.

North:
The Canadian Diplomacy Organization
The Great White North and all its regional organizations are covered by CDO, from the local scene to the long-standing and government chartered Canadian Diplomacy Championship.

South:
Carolina Amateur Diplomats (CADs)
If you're anywhere in or near the Carolinas, David Hood's Chapel Hill based group invites you to become a CAD. With "DixieCon," the group puts on one of the best annual tournaments of the year (and a darn good barbeque as well!)

East:
The Potomac Tea and Knife Society
The home of the "PitKissers" is the regional organization for the Northeastern United States, with members reaching along the eastern seaboard from Northern Virginia to New York City and beyond. The PTKS, based in Washington, D.C., keeps Diplomacy going in the midst of all those embassies. The Society makes its social mark with an annual tournament known as "Tempest in a Teapot."

West:
Seattle Metro Gamers
If you're in or near Seattle, the SMG is the place for you. Get in contact with Buz Eddy, one of the true hobby legends, and founder of the North American Diplomacy Federation. The SMG brings the best players from around the continent to its annual "Dragonflight" convention.

Diplomacy In Portland (DIP) If you're in or near Portland, Oregon, you need to join The Piggyback Society. I'm not really sure why it's named that, but it is.

Overseas Organizations

Australasia:
The DAANZ
If you're down under, in Australia or New Zealand, you should be DAANZ'ing. The DAANZ, host to a year-round schedule of tournaments, and host of the 2002 World Championships, is truly one of the finest-run organizations in all of Dipdom.

Finland:
The FDA (or SDS)
In Finland, the Finnish Diplomacy Association ("Suomen Diplomacy Seuran" or SDS in Finnish) takes care of things. In addition to the annual FinDipCon (the Finnish National Championship), Vesa Virri and Mikko Saari and the rest of the Finns send teams around the world for tournament competition, run face-to-face games, and publish a zine, "Stab!"

France:
The French Hobby
If you are in France, you should head for this site, where you can join the ranks (if you haven't already) of some of the very best players on the face of the planet.

Norway:
The NDF
If you can read Norwegian, chances are you would be interested in the Norwegian Diplomacy Federation. Like the other Scandinavian national organizations, the NDF is a top-notch group, a true credit to the hobby.

Sweden:
The SDF
The only thing wrong with the Swedish Diplomacy Federation is that they seem to have more than their fair share of the best players in the world. Everyone keeps saying something should be done about that, but no one can ever seem to do it.

United Kingdom:
UK Diplomacy
The Brits run four regular tournaments every year, one of which was selected to be the next host of World DipCon. Birmingham is where the World Hobby first met, and to Birmingham we will return in 2004!
