ARMADA Leadership

As specified in our charter, the ARMADA is led by a group of three "officers." When our founder and longtime leader, Manus Hand, stepped down after running the 2003 World Championships, elections were held, and the current officers are:

Jon Saul - Lord of the Admiralty

Jon Saul is one of the more recognizable ARMADA members around the country. Jon represented the ARMADA at the 2002 North American Championships in Chapel Hill, where he suffered a tournament-related injury, but played through it, earning the admiration and respect of all. Prior to becoming Lord of the Admiralty, Jon served effectively as ARMADA's first Admiral of the Fleets. Jon's duties as Lord of the Admiralty include serving as the main public face of the organization, approving all financial outlays, organizing the Regatta convention and tournament, and presiding at the annual membership meeting. Jon's term of office runs through the 2006 annual meeting.

Matt Drew - Admiral of the Fleets

Matt Drew chose to move to the Rockies based entirely on a Diplomacy game, and now his devotion to the hobby has him serving the ARMADA as Admiral of the Fleets. In this position, Matt's duties are to control the organization's finances, collecting dues and managing the membership roster, organizing and encouraging face-to-face play with the assistance of the local Fleet Admirals as he appoints them, and overseeing the running of all ARMADA face-to-face tournaments. Matt's term of office expires at the 2006 annual meeting.

Dave Scully - Grand Admiral

Dave Scully has served the ARMADA ever since its founding, all while serving our nation in his military capacity. With his wife Andréa, Dave keeps the ARMADA members in Colorado Springs active. With the other leaders, Dave is one of the most talented players in the group. As Grand Admiral, Dave's duties involve maintenance of the member ratings, managing the association's play-by-Web games, and maintaining our public online presence (this Website). Dave's term of office expires at the 2006 annual meeting.
