Diplomacy Rules Summary
The Basics.
- Sign up at least half an hour before the round starts – the earlier the better. Rounds start at 6pm Friday, 9am Saturday, and 9.30am Sunday.
- For Saturday, sign up by submitting a team of seven players to the Tournament Director.
- Make sure you turn up in time for the start of the round.
- You must get your orders in the box by the deadline.
- Date your orders. We will try to accept them anyway, but just to be sure…
- Use unambiguous abbreviations.
- You do not need to specify coasts unless there is more than one option.
- Supports are to a province, not a coast.
- All units can be supported to hold, except those with valid move orders.
- Do not mark order sheets while adjudicating.
- Do not negotiate during retreats and builds.
- You can propose a draw from the end of 1905.
- Draw votes are secret.
- Draws must include all survivors.
- Games end in 1909 on Friday, 1911 on Saturday and Sunday.
- Players may not seek outside assistance without the permission of all other players on the board, except that the team captain may assist his players in the team round.
Major changes from last year.
- Nationalities do not need to be specified, and do not affect the order if they are incorrectly specified.
- Your third result counts as half a result towards your final score
Scoring System
- Try to solo.
- Stop everyone else from soloing.
- Get as many centres as you can.
- Share out the remaining centres evenly between the other players.
Etiquette
- At the start of the game, play to win.
- Be polite.
- Respect the Tournament Director.
