This is a standard game of diplomacy intended for players who are new to the
Play-By-Email Judge system. I recommend that you check out "The Newbies'
Guide to the Judge" at http://home.pacbell.net/andyhre/main.html as well as
the excellent resources available at The Diplomatic Pouch website.
This game will follow the EP House Rules. If you have not had a chance to
review these rules, they can be found at
ftp://ftp.ugcs.caltech.edu/pub/diplomacy/WWW/judge/data/ep.house.rules.html
Please take the time to read the rules before joining the game.
This game will be tracked automatically by an online mapping site. The URL
for the mapping page will be
http://www.floc.net/observer.py?page=game&judge=USIN&game=stress and maps
will be available once all players have signed on.
Please keep all press civil. Abusive language will not be tolerated, and
may result in players being replaced.
All players are expected to submit their orders before the deadline, however
I realize that sometimes problems come up that prevent this. If you know
that you will not be able to make a deadline, let me know as soon as
possible BEFORE the deadline. Explain what's going on, and as long as
things don't get out of hand I'll be happy to work with your request. If I
don't hear from a player who hasn't submitted orders, and the deadline and
grace periods expire, I will have to assume that player no longer has an
interest in the game and seek a replacement.
I suggest that all players submit a set of orders that are acceptable as
soon as possible at the beginning of a turn, and at the same time set the
wait status flag by adding the following line to your orders:
SET WAIT
Setting the wait status flag guarantees that no orders will be processed
until the deadline. With the wait flag set, you can then exchange
diplomatic messages with the other players and modify your existing orders
as necessary. The judge only processes the last set of orders it receives.
Once you have submitted a set of orders that you are happy with after your
diplomatic sessions, you can remove the wait status flag with the line:
SET NO WAIT
If all orders are in and all wait flags are cleared, then the turn can
process earlier than the deadline, and the game will move a little faster.
If you have any questions of a non-strategic nature, please let me know.
I'll be happy to answer all of your questions.
Have a great game!
Eric
