Welcome to Pond, the fifteenth game in the Explorers series!

Here's your chance to try out a quick no-press game on a new mapboard. The
games in this series are all no-press variants. Many of them are very
obscure variants that you've never seen before.

Peter POND (1740-1807) was born in Connecticut to a family of fur
traders. After serving the Colonies in the French and Indian War, Pond
became a fur trader himself in the Detroit area. He went on many
expeditions and kept maps and narratives of his journey. He explored the
upper Mississippi River in 1773-5, and he set up the first trading post in
the Athabasca region (modern-day Alberta, Canada) in 1778. Bringing
American economics into the Northwest, Pond doubtless did much to push the
native Indians out of this land.

The INDIANS OF THE GREAT LAKES variant, by Chris Carde, takes place in the
Great Lakes Area. The powers are all Indian tribes, who might have been
fully powerful enough to stage their own Diplomacy game if Peter Pond and
his race had not stepped in. The map makes careful use of the Great Lakes
as sea spaces surrounded by land; the convoy possibilities are
endless. For more information, visit

The game will take at least two or three months. Please don't sign on
unless you have daily e-mail access during this time -- you'll need it to
submit your orders. Deadline extensions are available, but please ask for
them in advance, before missing the deadline. And, of course, abandoning
or going CD without an explanation is very rude.
