README.size ----------- You will only be interested in this if moving an existing judge from one platform to another, but, if you do, this might save you a lot of time! As a result of problems experienced when moving from one hardware platform to another, where the size of integer and long values changed, I have created a size check mechanism. The file .size.dat holds the sizes of the following three data types: short, int, long The makefile call the executable 'size_check' which will fail if this file exists with different values. Also, the dip executalbe has a SizeCheck() function which will also cause a bailout if these numbers do not match (it allows a non-existent file). In case you do have problems with migrating from one platform to another where sizes change (in my case, it was Intel to Alpha) two helper programs can be used to help migrate the affected data file dip.ded: ded_to_ascii: Creates a text file from dip.ded (run on source machine) ascii_to_ded: Creates a new dip.ded file from text file (run on target) -Millis Miller 15th April 2002
